Instagram is rolling out tools, updating gender options in Profile and releasing an LGBTQ+ teen guide in association with The Trevor Project.
Additionally, Instagram is revering history, empowering queer expression and improving safety across the platform.
Revering history with #UntoldPride
UntoldPride is inspired by the expressions of pride seen on Instagram every day. The hashtag can be used to share or learn about trans revolutionaries like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, or to share your own #comingout story.
You can share what it means for you to be LGBTQ+ community and connect with the community.
Instagram has partnered with @lgbt_history to dig into the city's LGBTQ+ history. They're also unveiling installations that depict lesser-known historic LGBTQ+ pioneers, places, and movements that have paved the way for the queer community.
Empowering Queer Expression
In partnership with GLAAD, Instagram has identified prominent hashtags such as #lgbtq, #bornperfect, #equalitymatters, #accelerateacceptance, or #pride2019. When these hashtags are used in the feed this month, they will be displayed in a rainbow gradient.
When you use these hashtags in Stories, your story ring will turn rainbow while it's live.
The official Instagram account will be featuring LGBTQ+ creators & artists that channel their creativity into camera effects for Pride.
