Walt Disney and Co. announced the launch of #ProtectThePride campaign to save the dwindling numbers of lions in Africa in wake of their upcoming movie Lion King.
As we await the live-action remake of Disney’s Lion King, Walt Disney Company has launched #ProtectThePride, a Global Conservation Campaign.
The objective of the campaign is to raise awareness about the dwindling number of lions and other animals in the wildlife and protect the lion population and its habitat where it needs to thrive.

The insight for the campaign is obtained from the very observation by the company, that the number of African Lions has reduced to the half since the release of the original version of the ‘Lion King’ movie 25 years go, leaving only 20,000 Lions in Africa.
To enhance the awareness campaign, Disney releases a video with compelling messages, where the team mentions, when we protect Lions, we protect the entire ‘Circle of Life’!
Disney, in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Network’s (WCN) Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) aims to double the Lion population across Africa by 2050 through engaging communities. The Lion King Protect the Pride donation of 1.5 million Dollars by Disney will make it the largest single donation in the 24 years history of Disney Conservation Fund.
The research suggests that protecting the habitats and surroundings for the Lions where they can live and protecting the other African animals, can strengthen their number
