The Bombay Store, one of oldest retail store in India has organised a contest wherein the store leverages TripAdvisor – a well known traveler guide to promote itself.
The Bombay Store has launched a ‘Review n Win’ contest, where-in fans are asked to write reviews based on their visit to store. The contest has commenced on November 23, 2012 and will end on December 3, 2012. The best two review writers will be gifted mega prizes, and all participants will win assured gift vouchers too.
Objectives:
- To get the feedback on the store from their online fans
- To improve the Brand rating on TripAdvisor.com
Execution:
To be a part of the contest, it is not necessary to ‘like’ their Facebook page. You can directly go to the Trip Advisor Contest tab and start with it. You can also go to www.tripadvisor.com and write a review directly.
When you enter into the tab, you can see snippets from recent reviews. You can also view the photographs posted by the reviewers.
To write a review, click on the ‘Write a review’ button and you are directed to the trip advisor website. While writing the review, you have to rank the store, title your review, write your review by sharing your experiences, mentioning what kind of a visit it was and also when did you visit. You can also upload the pictures and then submit your review.
In order to submit your review, you have to create a Trip Advisor account or use your Facebook account.
After you create an account, your review is submitted. Your reviews will be judged internally and 2 reviews will win mega prizes!
Positives:
The campaign is a nice way to get feedback from users on TripAdvisor, which is a portal that people most frequently use. And the reviews shared by users are all positive till now which is a good sign. Another good thing about this is that it rewards every reviewer with a voucher of Rs. 200. This is a win-win situation for everyone.
Scope of Improvement:
- Though the campaign is easy to participate, the participation in the last one week has been quite low. There are only 9 reviews since the contest started which can be bettered.
- The page is updated regularly with the contest, but may be they can try using paid promotions to reach out to all their fans and not let the edgerank algorithm limit their reach.
Conclusion:
In all a very good attempt to promote the brand on a widely used International platform. In this way, they are not only inviting customer feedback from their online fans, but also improving their brand’s rating on TripAdvisor, a double bulls-eye move!
