Digital content services company Trivone has acquired Godot Media, a Bangalore-based specialist Content Services company serving customers in the US and India.

Godot operates on the concept of 'Content as a Service', serving customers through an internally developed technology-enabled content marketing solution. Leveraging the customised platform, the company plans to offer additional content-based services to its existing and new customers in India and worldwide.

Speaking on the acquisition, Trivone promoter and veteran journalist L Subramanyan (Subu) says,

Working with our existing services customers, we have long felt the need to complement our content offerings, along with associated services such as design technology and social media. Godot has been one of the forerunners in this space, having created a technology-enabled content service platform.

Vishal Dutta, co-founder and CEO, Godot, says,

Having been the pioneers in this area, we were looking to expand our footprint inorganically. We believe that combining the strengths of Trivone and Godot will provide the market with world-class capabilities covering the entire gamut of digital content services

Currently Trivone offers services like content creation, sourcing and packaging for online and mobile delivery to both large and medium scale enterprises. The company raised series A funding from Accel Partners in 2011 and runs a clutch of websites besides providing content services.

Update:

Trivone and Godot started working together about 9 months back and have been exploring ways to deepen the relationship. Around two months back, the promoters of both companies sat down to explore the way forward and figure out how to scale the two businesses. The decision to come together is a result of the same.

The term sheet has already been issued and the final deal will be concluded by 2013. The companies will operate as one from Jan 1st, 2014 onwards. The company will offer both value services such as Managed Services as well as volume services, using the Godot platform; in fact, it will be a single company where Godot will be a division and the go-to-market brand for volume business globally. All the employees of Godot will be a part of the new entity and promoters of Godot will be a part of the leadership team.
