This general election has witnessed a staggering growth in the use of social media. Most major Politicians & Political Parties have a social media presence as a parallel to their campaigns. Many of the politicians give equal importance to their social media campaign, as well as their political rallies. Each politician and political party has a its own follower and fan base on Twitter and Facebook, respectively. And each also follows a different communication method, depending on their motive and objectives.

Surprisingly, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi don't have a presence on either Facebook or Twitter. Being among the most important and popular politicians, one would expect them to be on social media and moreover be active on it too.
