Ever since the launch of iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 plus last week, the app developers have been on their toes to modify their apps to take advantage of the large sized screen of the phone. Facebook too has got into this rat race and announced an update for the two newly launched iPhones. Since it’s a known fact that the iPhones have grown bigger in size getting two new display sizes, one with 4.7” screen size and the other with 5.5” screen size, it was time for Facebook to update their app in order for iOS 8 users to have an integrated Facebook experience!
The update will allow the users to have an improvised experience of sharing their photos from camera roll, videos, location, a website link & content for other apps. All they have to do is tap the share button & it will automatically be shared on their timeline. The update will also have an updated share screen similar to the current one, allowing the users to select the audience they want to share the content with, add location and say what they’re doing or tag friends. Facebook is looking forward to the update to make the experience on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus even richer that all the features of Facebook app would work with the new iOS. The update will be available in the coming weeks.
Apart from updating the visual appeal of the app, the other major change would be complying with the location settings of the new OS. The previous version of the OS gave two permission options i.e On or Off, however the new OS brings in three options, ‘Always”, “While using the app” and “Never”. On the same lines when Facebook is updated on the new iOS 8, Facebook will stop getting new location information unless the location services are enabled on the device. Therefore say for example when a user is using Facebook Messenger, the location service settings will have the option - “While using the app”.
Over the coming months Facebook will keep updating its app in order to give the best user experience on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.
