Doctor Who was the world’s longest running sci-fi show which premiered on BBC on November 23, 1963 and has fans or Whovians across the globe. Annually, The Doctor’s birthday is celebrated as TARDIS Day named after his Time Machine/Spacecraft and for every Whovian is one of the biggest occasions of the year.

With the aim to bring out something special for Indian Whovian’s, FX India decided to come up with a digital one-on-one with Peter Capaldi, The Doctor himself.

Objective

To allow the fans to ask that one question they always wanted to ask on his birthday, and the winner of the contest would get their answers.

Execution

The event was kick started on Facebook and Twitter with by informing active fan clubs that they had a chance of being a part of the next best thing to a ‘Companion’, a Doctor Who sidekick.

Twitter was trending with #AskDoctorWhoOnFX and to enable Peter Capaldi to ask maximum questions, a shortlist with the most frequently asked questions was created which were asked on air and digital on TARDIS day on November 23, 2015.

Along with this, a contest was held online for fans as a flashback to the 52 years of Doctor Who.

Result

  • A total of 108 questions were received via Facebook and Twitter.
  • #TARDISdayOnFX was trending in the country for over 16 hours with over 7000 tweets in just 3 hours from over 400 contributors.
