The Business of Blogging / Influencer Marketing has been getting tainted for long now, from fake profiles to automated bot led tweets, vanity metrics, and shallow understanding, our ecosystem is fractured with cracks from all corners. While Industry veterans, analysts, and marketers have been promoting the best practices for this discipline, it's high time for the digital marketing community in India to come together and discuss the inherent gaps in the Influencer Marketing ecosystem.
We need a standard framework and policies to address the concerns of each stakeholder Bloggers/Influencers, Brand managers, PR Agencies and Influencer Marketing Platforms. The onus is on the innovators, early adopters, and believers of Influencer Marketing to make sure that this phenomenon does not end up as just another fad. The approach might ruffle some feathers here and there but in the long term it would pay off in the right stead.
