The first recipient of AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award, Chairman WPP India Ranjan Kapur passed away in Mumbai today. Ranjan's cremation will be held on Sunday, 28th January at the Worli Crematorium. A Banker turned advertising professional, Ranjan Kapur started his advertising journey with Bensons an old avatar of Ogilvy & Mather. He had served the agency for over 37 years with stints at New York and Singapore offices as well. The Industry has known him as the man who led Ogilvy to the top with his focus on thinking big, empowering individuals and delegating responsibilities to the right people at the right time.
In the recent times, Ranjan Kapur was working on strengthening the foundation of ISDI WPP School of Communication an initiative to bridge the supply-demand gap for fresh talent in the industry. Ranjan's passing away is a huge loss to the industry. In this moment of grief, we pray that God Almighty gives all the strength and courage to the family, may his soul rest in peace.
