Ancita has seen the PR industry change with the arrival of social media over the years. She is also the brain behind #SocialPowWow, a tweetchat to build a community of digital marketers. In this chat, Ancita shares her journey, memorable moments, and more.
What led to your entry in the dynamic world of digital marketing?
In the early years of my career in Public Relations, I sensed the evolution of PR with the arrival of social media. I started to learn about the digital landscape by connecting and learning from people across the globe. My passion for online and digital marketing was recognized by my company and I was given an opportunity to subsequently focus on online PR and gradually moved to create social media-led PR campaigns for the clients.
Looking back, how would you describe the journey. What is the one instance that made it all worthwhile?
It has been an incredible journey full of new learnings where the motto was to explore, experiment and find effective, creative, efficient ways to do the same job and of course to embrace the evolving communications ecosystem. Back in 2015, I initiated #SocialPowWow tweetchat to build a community of digital marketers and communicators from across the world and learn from one another while connecting with like-minded people. This initiative was apart from my day job but the learnings from people from all over the world helped me in my career too!
The day I decided to challenge myself, get out of the comfort zone, adapt quickly to the evolving PR ecosystem and embrace digital media is what made this journey worthwhile!
Your idea of an ideal campaign?
The one that connects with the audience emotionally.
One memorable campaign that you worked on. Any behind the scenes dope?
I worked on a visual storytelling campaign for one of the B2B clients. It was about creating a series of comics to break down complex messaging in a simple and engaging way, something that the client had never experimented with before. It was received very well by the client and their communications team internally!
Behind the scenes, the team spent days brainstorming, creating different storylines, thrashing ideas but an overall fun experience collaborating with the PR team and using our right-side brain to make complex things interesting!
