SonyLIV's State of Digital Entertainment 2018 report reflecting the digital takeover that grasped India last year, shares detailed insights on digital video consumption, user patterns, and audience demographics.
According to the report, while SonyLiv's monthly active users grew 3x in 2018 vis a vis 2018, it also states that by 2020 India is expected to be the second largest video-viewing audience globally.
Commenting on the report, Uday Sodhi, Business Head- Digital, Sony Pictures Network said, "There is an increasing legion of fans who are opting to consume content that is outside their comfort zone, preferring to watch stories untold before. Here is a world which does not shy away from data costs, is open to altering consumption patterns and takes its entertainment consumption very seriously.
For content creators, it is thus imperative to tap the most suitable platform to get their products across, ensuring they offer the most sought after stories as well as a seamless viewing experience. With growth in the online video viewing audience, creating content that is relevant, engaging and worthy of consumers' time is going to be the mainstay for digital streaming players."
