Instagram's web version is being tested with the direct messages feature on desktop as well as mobile. Instagram web DM might finally arrive
Jane Manchun Wong, shared screenshots of the Instagram web DM feature being tested on desktop and mobile's web. Although, an Instagram spokesperson told The Verge that the feature isn’t being publicly tested.
Instagram's web experience has minimum features with just the ability to scroll through the feed, stories and notifications. Direct messages is an improvement to the overall web experience given there's not a lot you can do apart from viewing content. There's currently no option to upload photos or stories too (from web).
