Instagram is testing redesigns with the recently updated Instagram Post Creation UI with a new Stories tab.
The conventional post creation camera would be replaced with the Stories camera as a part of the Instagram Post Creation UI update. This update is a shift from the usual way of adding Stories from the top-left corner of your Instagram feed.

Previous update of the post creation UI added features like hashtag descriptions, photo ratio toggle button, categories in Gallery and cards preview photo in Ken Burns effect.
Stories have been getting a push from the platform are being updated with new features. Recently, Instagram initiated Stories on the Instagram Explore tab displaying Stories of accounts similar to what users like and follow.This is the first time ever Stories will be showing up on Explore tab.
Instagram stories are used by 500 million users every day (Instagram internal data, January 2019). 96% of US marketers surveyed plan to continue using Stories ads in the next 6 months, as accounted by EmbedSocial.
Instagram may have been bettering the Stories experience on the platform for these reasons. A smoother experience may maintain the current userbase or even boost it.
