Numerous users including several high-profile accounts and influencers have faced issues while trying to regain access to their hacked accounts.
The new process will ask you to enter your e-mail ID or phone number and will send a six digit code to your device, recognizing whether it's a hacker trying to login from a different device or the original user trying to login from the native device.

In an e-mailed statement to Vice, an Instagram spokesperson stated, "We know that losing access to your account can be a distressing experience. We have measures in place to stop accounts from being hacked in the first place, as well as measures to help people recover their accounts. But we heard from the community that these measures aren't enough, and people are struggling to regain access to their accounts".
Presently, a support form is required to be filled when a user tries to regain access. The new process may eliminate the dependency on Instagram's Security Team, which elongates the process of regaining access to a hacked account.
