September 16 is known as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Here's how brands commemorated it with #OzoneDay posts.
In celebration of the Montreal Protocol that played an important role in decreasing the adverse effects of harmful emissions on the ozone layer, brands jumped in to show creativity. The protocol was signed on 26 August 1987 and came to force on September 16. This year, the world celebrates 32 years of healing with a promise to expedite efforts to save the ozone layer, with hashtags like #OzoneDay and #OzoneDay2019. Brands join the bandwagon with #OzoneDay posts.
"The theme for this year celebrates over three decades of remarkable international cooperation to protect the ozone layer and the climate under the Montreal Protocol. It reminds us that we must keep up the momentum to ensure healthy people and a healthy planet," announced United Nations, adding, "On this World Ozone Day, we can celebrate our success. But we must all push to keep hold of these gains, in particular by remaining vigilant and tackling any illegal sources of ozone-depleting substances as they arise." The Montreal Protocol has led to the phase-out of 99 per cent of ozone-depleting chemicals in refrigerators, air-conditioners and many other products, says UN.
Interestingly, images with copies in various vernacular languages could be seen if one were to scroll through the results under the hashtag. Most brands concentrated on highlighting the various moods of the earth and the ozone layer. Some also tried to dwell on the importance of the Montreal Protocol.
