New Update
YouTube Kids

YouTube has announced new data practices for children's content on the platform, improvements to YouTube Kids, and more.

YouTube & YouTube Kids will stop serving personalized ads on this content entirely and will also disable features such as comments and notifications.

The platform will limit data collection and use on videos made for kids. They will treat data from anyone watching children’s content on YouTube as coming from a child, regardless of the age of the user.

Creators will have to inform the platform when their content falls in this category. The company would also use machine learning to identify videos that target a young audience.

Improvements to YouTube Kids

YouTube will increase investments in promoting YouTube's Kids option to parents with a campaign that would run across YouTube. They are also bringing YouTube's Kids experience to desktop.

Creators

YouTube will be providing resources and four months to help creators adjust to the new policies before the changes take effect on the platform.

The company is establishing a $100 million fund, disbursed over three years, dedicated to the creation of original children’s content on YouTube and YouTube Kids globally.

YouTube Team

The platform is introducing new, mandatory annual training for our teams about our requirements in this area.

The platform also says, "We'll continue working with lawmakers around the world in this area, including as the FTC seeks comments on COPPA.'
