In conversation with Social Samosa, Prem Vats shares his journey of becoming an influencer. With the sole intention to make people smile, Vats aims to create relatable and better content each day to stand out in the clutter.

Looking back, where did it all begin?

All this started when I was passing from a bad time in December 2016. I saw a compilation musical.ly (now TikTok) of video on YouTube and I started using it.

What’s in the name? 

Smiley Vats: My main purpose is to make people smile because I know the value of it.

What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?

I think the USP would be the relatability. I have always tried to create content which brings an instant smile on my audience's faces.

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?

I pick ideas from daily life that people can relate to. Some of my friends help me with ideas.

How do you make moolah with your efforts?

Since I have so many followers, brands approach me to promote their products. Also, I am officially verified a user by the app. So, they pay me for my efforts.

How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?

I try to be as genuine as possible. Also, it depends on the category of brands. I do research first.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile

When people say they want to be like me I am their inspiration. I am overwhelmed by the love I got.

Weirdest brand brief/request ever

There was a brand who asked me for my address for sending their product and I got the call from the courier company that the bill is still pending and I have to pay it.

If not an influencer, you would be?

I would like to be a CA. I have even studied the subject. But acting and blogging always come first.

A day in your life…

Every single day is different in strugglers life just like a roller coaster. Every day with a different challenge.
