Ann Geo began blogging as a mom of a toddler exploring art supplies, with an intention to share her journey with other parents.
If it hadn't been for blogging, Ann Geo would probably be a part of the IT world at the moment, living out of a cubicle. Being a blogger is where she has found her joy. She loves working from the comfort of her home with flexible timings and the option to choose what she wants to work with. Here's more.
Looking back, where did it all begin?
Being a fan of art, craft, and DIY, it all started when I began engaging my toddler son in art activities. As we set up our home art studio, I started sharing our creations on my blog and Instagram page with a goal to inspire kids and parents to tap into their creative potential.
What's in the name?
My blog is named AL Things Beautiful; ‘AL’ derived from my son’s name Alwin because he has been my inspiration and partner in this journey.
What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?
We have focused on creativity as our niche and pretty much just shared snippets of our life, aligned only with brands we relate to and provide value in all our collaborations. In a nutshell, as a platform, I believe in featuring content aligned with the highest good of all those involved.
Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?
Good Photography and relevant captions are the key differentiators. In order to stay relevant and genuine in this saturated space, I think it’s important to strategically choose our collaborations wisely and this, in turn, simplifies the entire process.
How do you make moolah with your efforts?
Moolah comes from collaborating with various brands for their promotional campaigns.
How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?
Since I tend to only collaborate with brands that I already use or can definitely relate to, it’s easy to draw inspiration from real-life experiences and align with stakeholder expectations before presenting the content.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile
For me, the biggest benefit is to work from the comfort of my home at flexible timings and also the option to choose my work. I also believe lifestyle blogging has given me plenty of new exposure to meet accomplished authors, entrepreneurs and entertainers.
Weirdest brand brief/request ever
As with any profession, my blogging journey has had a couple of ‘not so harmonious’ prospective collaborations wherein the expectations seemed unrealistic.
If not blogging, you would be?
If I hadn’t started blogging, probably, I’d still be in a full-time grey cubicle IT job.
A day in your life...
Just like any mom with a little child, my day primarily begins with mommy duties -getting my son ready for school. Then I proceed with my morning walk and meditation routine before beginning my work, which includes content writing and photography.
