Manjusha

Manjusha explains how highlighting the good with an add on suggestion helps her maintain objectivity without hampering a brand's image.

Manjusha loves to interact with kids. If she were not a blogger, she would have either worked in the fashion industry or helped groom kids in their overall personality development. In conversation with Social Samosa, she explains her journey from being a mommy blogger to expanding the scope of her writing.

Looking back, where did it all begin?

It began when I started to experience the most wonderful days of my life after my child's birth. The various emotions I would go through each day inspired me to pen it all down.

What's in the name?

When I began, I named my blog as 'Straight from mummy's heart' because whatever I penned down was personally felt and expressed. Few years down the line, I changed it to Mommysdayout as I began to enjoy the other facets of womanhood beyond motherhood.

What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?

My authenticity is my USP. Being a part of the race was never on my list and will never be. The honesty in my writings reflects my personality and that's always helped me connect with people. I keep it real, the way I am and that's about it.

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?

I never create forced content. If you go through my blog, you will see most of my writings come through my experiences. I don't limit myself to motherhood and you will see that in my writings. I love other aspects of being a woman and love to explore my identity as an individual. There is no trick to stay relevant and relatable. I speak my mind and support causes that interest me. Any step that leads to a betterment of our future generations has my heart and support. The best part is when you speak from the heart, you always find an audience who can relate.

How do you make moolah with your efforts?

Honestly, money wasn't on my mind when I entered the world of blogging. In fact, I enjoyed my space where I could express myself freely. However, with Gods grace my writings got noticed by various platforms and I started getting paid offers. Efforts double up when you have a commitment to fulfil and it feels even better when it's rewarded.

How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?

Being selective with the choice of brands help me a great deal. My opinions about the brand are based on my personal experiences with the brand. Highlighting the good with an add on suggestion has always helped me maintain my objectivity without hampering the brand image.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile

As soon as I began writing, my very second article got a huge response in terms of views and comments on one of the popular parenting platforms. It also got featured as the top ten articles of the month. I was certain that the honesty in my writings paid off.

Weirdest brand brief/request ever

I have been lucky to have not come across anything weird so far. But I do get a lot of requests that I refuse if it doesn't suit my interest.

If not blogging, you would be?

I would be in the fashion industry or else grooming kids for their overall personality development, as the love for kids comes naturally to me. Especially when it comes to playful interaction and learning.

A day in your life...

My day begins at 6 am that gradually picks up momentum as the school bus time approaches. After dropping off, I head to a park for my morning walks and get back home in about an hour to enjoy a hot cuppa tea and newspaper. I enter the digital world (checking emails and social media) only after I am done with my morning ritual and healthy breakfast. I believe a good start sets the tone for the rest of the day. So I try and make my mornings worthwhile.

Message/tips for upcoming bloggers.

Just blog with all your heart and you will soon make a place for yourself. Honesty in your writings will always find readers.

Your Favorite Influencer

There are quite a few of them I like and get inspiration from. However, there's never been a favourite.

The Future you foresee for your Personal Brand

I see Mommysdayout as a platform for all things woman. Eventually, I would like to have a portal that can be a one-stop solution for all women related needs.
