Spotlight is an in-app platform for user-generated content that will feature the most entertaining Snaps created by users on Snapchat and can range from dance, humor, engaging visuals created with Lenses or similar products, and more.
Snapchat is also offering an opportunity to earn a share of more than $1 million that they will be distributing among creators every day, to the highest performing Snaps submitted to Spotlight.
Snaps should be vertical videos with sound that can be up to 60 seconds long, still-images, horizontal, blurry, or text-only Snaps would not be featured in Spotlight.
Users can only post original content, and use music from the licensed library through the recently launched feature - Sounds, that enables users to overlay an audio track on a Snap.
Brand collaborations, product promotions, paid or otherwise, are presently not allowed on Spotlight. Users cannot attempt to sell or solicit products or services.
To earn a share of the money distributed to creators submitting top-performing Snaps, the content needs to be eligible for a payment.

Based on a payment formula, Snapchat calculates if a Snap meets the 'value threshold', i.e. it accumulates at least $250 USD (value threshold) Payment in a single day, within the 28-day period (eligibility period) after the Snap has been submitted.
If the Snap meets the threshold within the eligibility period, then subject to all other criteria in Spotlight Terms, the user will receive a payment.
The proprietary payment formula which is subject to change counts in various factors to calculate the performance of a Snap, such as unique video views attributable to a specific Snap and the relative performance of the Snaps compared to other Snaps in Spotlight.
Moderation and content suggestion algorithms, that prioritize content would also impact any payments a user may earn.
This system considers factors such as the total number of unique video views and favorites attributable to a Snap, the number of daily users who view the content, the time spent by users viewing the content, and the past performance of the content.
To be eligible to earn, a user must have reached the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction or be at least 16 years old with the consent of your parent(s)/legal guardian(s).
