Upgraded categorization, search functionality, information about the use of user data and information utilized for personalization on Facebook, and more of such updates are a part of the refurbished Access Your Information tool.
The new categories in the Access Your Information tab on Facebook are:
- Your Activity Across Facebook
- Friends and Followers
- Preferences
- Personal Information
- Logged Information
- Ads Information
- Apps and Websites Off of Facebook
- Security and Login Information
These categories also break down into further subcategories. The search functionality will let users find data categories by searching for them. For example, if a user is searching for information about location history, searching for “location” should start generating suggestions.
Facebook is also adding information about how user data would be used to personalize the experience on Facebook. For example, users might see that the primary location was one of the multiple signals that informed a recent ad you saw for a food delivery app. This information is also available in the Why Am I Seeing This tool.
Facebook says all of these changes were made in response to research that showed how people interacted with Access Your Information — for example, the new categories were developed based on what people were clicking on.
The revamped Access Your Information is now available on iOS and Android and will be available on other platforms soon.
