With Euro 2020 going on in full swing, brands leverage the opportunity to come up with campaigns that celebrate the game while creating a memorable brand recall.
The game of football is back on the field with the Euro 2020 tournament that was postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As players get back on the ground to score goals, various brands launched campaigns to celebrate the return of the tournament and bank on the consumer excitement around the revival of one of the most prominent football leagues. According to statistics, Euro 2020's opening weekend coverage on ESPN and ABC (seven matches) saw an average audience of 961,000 viewers, marking a 12% increase in viewers from the first weekend of EURO 2016.
Qatar Airways launched a campaign titled, 'True fans have no borders' to show that airline staff and fans are alike and when it comes to Euro 2020, irrespective of the borders surrounding them. It shows them watching the beautiful game of football at an airport.
Jumping on to the wagon, Deliveroo launched a campaign named 'England til we dine' to celebrate their official sponsoring of the England team in the Euro 2020 tournament. Snicker's Bothlands campaign celebrates the tournament with a twist by showcasing rival players standing next to each other uncomfortably before a match.
