Twitter has announced the acquisition of the messaging service Quill, along with the testing of an immersive Explore tab in India.

Twitter has announced the testing of a full-screen immersive 'Explore' tab that displays videos in the vertical format with interactive options such as comment, like, and retweets.

The feature is in the testing phase in India with a small group of users. While the tab would look less cluttered and attract more user attention on individual Tweets, but the focus on videos and removal of various categories may disrupt the user experience. The platform will gather feedback

Acquisition Of Quill

Quill is a messaging service that facilitates streamlined and productive conversations within groups and teams. The acquisition of Quill by Twitter is intended to optimize communication on the platform.

The standalone service would be shutting down and on December 11, 2021, (1 PM PST) the servers would be shut down and all data would be deleted. Users can export the team's messages by following these steps:

How to export a team's messages?

  • Go to Settings in Quill
  • Select the team to export
  • Under the Export Team heading, press 'Start Export'
  • Export will have started. After a few minutes, you will receive an email with the link to the .zip file containing the export

All messages on public channels visible to the whole team can be exported by any member of the team or admin. Private DMs, messages on groups, or private channels will not be allowed to be exported. Files can be exported by a Python script provided by Quill.
