Tim Irwin has been promoted to Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) by Essence, part of WPP's GroupM. Irwin had joined Essence in 2018 as COO and previously led EMEA for the agency. He will now be succeeded by Ryan Storrar.
In his new role, Irwin will manage the agency’s global growth strategy and operations. He will continue to be based in London.
Tim Irwin comes with over two decades of experience in executive roles at media agencies. Prior to joining Essence, Irwin served as the COO at the sister agency, Maxus, which merged with MEC to form Wavemaker. He helped develop the agency to become the UK's top ten media agencies. Irwin began his career with BJK&E Media as Director back in 1999.
Storrar, who succeeds Irwin as the EMEA CEO was previously the COO of the region. He had joined Essence in 2016 as Head of Activation.
