Snapchat Content Controls falls under its Family Center tool and aims to filter sensitive and suggestive content from appearing on the teens’ Snapchat stories and Spotlight feed.
Snapchat has rolled out its new Content Controls feature to help prevent teens from watching potentially inappropriate content while using the platform. The new feature falls under its Family Center tool and aims to filter sensitive and suggestive content from appearing on the teens’ Snapchat stories and Spotlight feed.
To enable the feature, parents will need to have an existing Family Center set up with their teens and will have to select ‘Restrict Sensitive Content’ in the settings.
Snapchat has also published its Content Guidelines for community members on what kind of content can appear on Stories or Spotlight.
These guidelines outline:
- Content that is prohibited, consistent with the Community Guidelines.
- Which content is eligible for recommendation on Stories or Spotlight.
- Which content is considered sensitive and could be restricted using our new Content Controls.
The platform has mentioned in the blog that the guidelines have been shared with media partners and Snap Stars.
Snapchat is planning to add additional parental controls to Family Center that would allow guardians to monitor how their child interacts with My AI, Snapchat’s experimental chatbot.
