The platform plans to add 'Dreams' in its AI features, providing users to place their selfies in AI-generated backgrounds and further plans to monetize it.
Snapchat will include a new feature 'Dreams' with which users can play around with their selfies and add AI-generated images to the background.
This feature is supposed to add 'fantastical places and scenarios', according to app researcher and developer Steve Moser. Users can either take or attach their selfies to their imagined background with this feature. They would be allowed to add background to photos with the help of AI and enhance the already existing 'filter' feature available in the app.
Like other AI selfie apps, the app would need clear selfies where users' features aren't obstructed or those with other people in them. Having a variety of angles, expressions, and lighting conditions will also result in better AI photos, the app will instruct users.

The company is trying to make this a multi-user friendly feature and is developing 'Dreams with Friends' where users can give their friends permission to include them in these AI-generated images. The feature will be available very noticeably in between Camera Roll and Stories.
The company is planning on making this a monetizable feature someday by adding updates to it. The platform has an existing AI-powered chatbot My AI, which allows users to text and respond with a Snap. This is the platform's move to further expand into generative AI features.
