Snapchat’s 'My AI' glitches and posts a random story, leaving users confused.
My AI feature of Snapchat was launched earlier this year and is an in-built chatbot that users use to conversate with the app on matters such as which lens to use, providing travel recommendations, all in a cordial and friendly way. It is used to chat and can respond to any user's snap. This feature is pinned to the top of a user's chat feed, making it well accessible to users.
This feature came under a lot of controversy when it posted a story for the first time this Tuesday, which confused users. The chatbot didn't respond to the worried users who sent messages regarding this glitch. Users were unsettled by this random story and the chatbot stopped conversing on the app. It kept replying with generic responses such as "it doesn't understand," "experienced a technical issue."
The story was deleted an hour later.
This was unnerving to Snapchat users worldwide as they felt the chatbot was becoming aware. Some users thought that this story was an image of their own ceilings, this assumption was cleared by AI itself when it replied to some users, “Sorry, I encountered a technical issue.”
