Ananta Goyal of Bump & Baby says that keeping parenting as real as possible and sharing topics of interest for mothers is her USP in this cluttered space.
Goyal began blogging when she was expecting her second child and mommy blogging was not a crowded space back then. From maintaining the integrity of the blog and staying true to the followers to a peek into a day in her life.
In a candid interview with Social Samosa, Goyal shares her content creation process, weirdest brief she has received, and more.
Looking back, where did it all begin?
This took in February 2016 when I was expecting my second child. Mommy blogging was not a very crowded space back then and thought there was a need to have a platform for mothers.
What's in the name?
Bump & Baby took off when I was a new mom, raising a toddler whilst expecting my second child. Hence, Bump & Baby.
What is your USP in this cluttered space? How does your content give you an edge?
I try to keep parenting as real as possible and share topics of interest for mothers. Healthy eating and living and hand on parenting are some of the topics I promote on my blog.

Please take us through your content creation process. How do you stay relevant and relatable?
The content flows organically as you go through phases of motherhood and newborn babies grown into little children. Content is intertwined in snippets of our daily life. Mothers go through similar experiences and challenges. Highlighting them makes mothers realize that we are all in the same boat and offers encouragement.
How do you rake moolah with your efforts?
Sponsored content allows you to invest time and effort in the blog and make it viable in the longer term. I choose collaborations that would be of interest to my largely women followers and restrict the number of sponsored posts.
How do you maintain editorial objectivity with the influx of brand briefs?
I always state in advance that content creation and review will be based as per my blog aesthetics. It is important to maintain the integrity of the blog and stay true to the followers. In my experience, agencies are respectful of this fact.

One instance/experience that made it all worthwhile
All the while when followers come up to say hello and that they enjoy my blog makes it worth the effort.

Weirdest brand brief/request ever
There was a request for a dance video. It is just not me and one that I refused to take up.
If not blogging, you would be?
I am a graphic designer on a sabbatical.
A day in your life....
My morning starts with a school drop off. Followed by an hour of workout and cramming in all the work and reading I can before my kids are back from school. This is followed by lunch, homework, reading and playing for a good 90 minutes. Evening bath is followed by dinner and early bedtime for the children. My routine basically revolves around theirs. Post that is my me time spent with my husband.
Message/tips for upcoming bloggers
Find a niche for your blog and stick with it. A unique style with images and texts goes a long way to keep the audiences engaged. Stick to limiting sponsored content and it will help build a stronger blog.
