Who founded the product/company?

BuzzSumo was founded by Steve Rayson, James Blackwell, and Henley Wing Chiu in 2014.

We were acquired by Brandwatch in 2018 and continue as our own separate business unit.

What platforms does it cover?

BuzzSumo tracks social engagement from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Reddit. We are adding Youtube data in 2019.  And, any socially shared content is stored in our database of 5 billion + articles. We add 2.5 million new URL’s every day.

Content search lets you discover socially shared content on your chosen topic from a database of over 5 billion articles.

Content Analyzer takes your search to the next stage and allows you to run powerful analysis - looking at trends in historical and up-to-date engagement data, compare different content topics or brands, and easily determine what type of content works best for you.

Influencer identification with an updated database of hundreds of millions of Twitter users, including their favorite topics, and BuzzSumo-exclusive engagement and responsiveness data.

Trending: Quickly discover the most shared content over the past 24 hours, with helpful scoring to illustrate how that content has been shared.

Facebook Analyzer identifies the most engaging posts on Facebook by topic or page, with granular analysis of the post type, and engagement over time.

Question Analyzer: An index of hundreds of millions of forums, including Reddit, Quora and Amazon Q&A, provides a detailed look at customer questions about products or topic areas.

The Evergreen Score provides insight into the types of content that engages audiences for longer periods of time.

Brand and Media Monitoring: Robust brand monitoring provides updates of brand names or keywords in content shared online and includes graphed analysis of mentions over time. Backlink and domain authority indicators allow writers and publishers to identify link-building opportunities.

Unique index of backlinks discovered in socially shared content. High value links are all found in content that has been socially shared.

RSS and API access can be integrated with various analytics tools. An integration with Google Analytics is in Beta.
