An ode to Pradeep Sarkar, the man behind Parineeta, Cadbury’s ‘Pappu Pass Ho gaya’ and much more.
Pradeep Sarkar - recipient of an Abby award, Rapa Award and the National Film Award, passed away on March 24 at the age of 67.
The man behind movies like Parineeta and Mardaani graduated with a gold medal from Delhi College of Art in 1979 and moved on to have a colourful career and became one of the country's most prolific ad-film makers.
Sarkar’s journey began as a creative supervisor at an ad agency named Tulika Advertising Agency. After almost two decades in mainstream advertising, Pradeep moved on to ad filmmaking, starting his own production company called Apocalypso Filmworks. Apart from directing movies and ads, Pradeep was also known for his contribution to the music industry.
Pradeep’s own creation, Apocalypso Filmworks, has been responsible for creating over 1000 commercials for big names like Dabur, Patanjali, Cadbury ITC Atta, Onika KY Thunder, and one of the most known - AajTak. The agency has also shot a few feature films.
